Joyce Charles – Ms. Charles was a Girl Scout Coordinator out of Ebenezer AME Church,  in Fort Washington, Maryland.  She was on the initial AAMES committee to institute our nation/worldwide Scouting Organization.  Her contributions were to assist in setting the groundwork for the expectations within the AAMES Organization.  Ms. Charles served on the “Leadership Training Committee”. (October 1993)

This scholarship is awarded at the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Christian Education Congress and at the AAMES Camporee for a deserving Girl Scout. Eligibility and requirements as follows:

Award:  $250

Deadline: March 31, 2024

Requirements:

Must have earned the Girl Scout Gold Award (documentation requested) and have a 2.75 GPA or higher (Provide copy of transcript or report card). Must have demonstration of practical citizenship in Girl Scouting, school, community, and religious community. Must submit a letter of recommendation from your scout leader in addition to at least one additional letter of recommendations from individuals representing the following: your church, school, or community. Must also submit a 500-word essay describing how scouting has impacted your life.
