AAMES Story

I started gardening with Girl Scouts as a Daisy and have continued the tradition because I enjoy the fresh vegetables and spending time with my mom. This year, I asked for a bigger plot at the Hidden Oaks Nature Center so I can plant more fruit and vegetables. This year, I planted watermelon, cantaloupe, a lot of celery (I love celery sticks), carrots, yellow/orange/red tomatoes, black/green sweet peppers, squash, cucumbers, onions, corn and lettuce(on the balcony). My mom makes her BLT sandwich using my fresh lettuce. She walks out to the balcony and grabs some lettuce almost every other day. Started a little late this year due to the weather, but can’t wait for harvest.
